A Certificate of Analysis reports the test results for one batch of material. A complete one identifies the compound, the batch/lot number, the testing methods used (e.g. HPLC, MS), the results with units, the date, and the issuing laboratory — ideally an independent one.
How it works
To read one, first confirm the lot number matches the vial you have. Then check that identity (mass spec, with the expected molecular weight) and purity (HPLC percentage, with the chromatogram image) are both present — not just a summary number. Finally, confirm who issued it; a seller-issued document is weaker than an independent lab's, and a verifiable portal link is stronger still.
